JTE Gist: Thousands of young Nigerians gather as MTV Shuga holds auditions in Lagos for new season


They hope to be chosen for the next two seasons of the show.

Popular actors and returning cast members ofMTV ShugaTimini EgbusonJemima Osunde,Sharon Ezeamaka, and thousands of young Nigerians gathered at Planet One in Maryland, Lagos as auditions for the long-running Pan-African drama series, MTV Shuga hold today.

Other notable faces in attendance include Emmanuel Ikubese, Ehiz Okoeguale, Small Doctor, Tomi Thomas, Folu Stormz, and Somadina Anyama to name a few.

The auditions, which have been open from 9a.m., will close today at 6p.m.

Budding actors and actresses who are unable to attend the physical audition need not worry as they can also submit a short video audition on InstagramFacebook and Twitter using the hashtag #MTVShugaAudition.

A script is available on MTV Shuga and the online auditions will close on Wednesday, August 23, 2017.

MTV Shuga, which aims to champion and exhibit Nigerian talent, is a multi-sectorial partnership that involves the MTV Staying Alive Foundation and is supported by MTV Base Africa, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the US Government and various UN agencies and NGOs.

The sixth and seventh seasons of MTV Shuga will premiere around the world in 2018.
